Philanthropy, Katie Dale:

“Hi y’all! My name is Katie Dale, and I am the Director of Philanthropy for the Zeta Omicron chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at Georgia Tech. Since 1979, we have partnered with our philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House of Atlanta. Their mission is to support families whose children are undergoing treatment at local hospitals through the provision of housing and necessary resources, providing a home away from home. We support RMH through major philanthropy fundraisers, smaller events, service mixers, as well as in-person volunteering! Last year, ZO ADPi raised over $50,000 and completed over 1500 service hours at RMH and other charitable organizations.

During my recruitment experience, I had the wonderful opportunity to hear all about how I could continue my passion for philanthropy that developed throughout high school. I had no idea that I could have a genuine impact on my community when the city of Atlanta felt so big. However, ADPi offered the unique opportunity of hands-on philanthropic service through our two local Ronald McDonald House partners. Being able to build connections with the children’s lives we are directly impacting through donations and service truly means the world. The kids residing at RMH bring a light into my life that I wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else. Whether it’s learning their backstories, meeting their service animal, or playing games of tag where you are always “it,” I find that I always leave feeling a sense of joy and hope that radiates from inside the house. I am beyond excited to host our major fundraisers this year, such as the “Family Stays 5K” in the Spring and the “Gala for Giving” in the Fall! These events make a large impact and help support the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House operating fund each year. 

This position has already been such a blessing in my life, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to share this meaningful experience with our chapter. Investing in philanthropy encourages you to grow, learn, connect, stay true to who you are, and make a meaningful difference in the world around you. I’m incredibly grateful to lead ADPi in our philanthropic efforts this year and look forward to deepening our chapter’s partnership with Atlanta Ronald McDonald House by fostering authentic, personal connections with the families we serve.”

Alpha Delta Pi's national Philanthropy is Ronald McDonald House Charities. RMHC provides a "home-away-from-home", complete with food and support programs, for families when their children are being treated for a serious illness or injury.

We are lucky enough to have a Ronald McDonald House in the Atlanta area that we volunteer at. Serving the families and children staying at the Ronald McDonald House provides an opportunity to connect with the community and give back in love and servant leadership. Each month we host an event at RMH. Some of our recent events include arts and crafts with the kids, cooking and serving meals, cookie decorating with the children and families, and pumpkin painting. This past year, we hosted an Alumni Service Brunch at RMHC. In 2025, we served over 350 hours of service at the Ronald McDonald House.

On campus we host the Family Stays 5k and Pie a Pi. Both of these events help raise money and awareness for the Ronald McDonald House. On campus, bringing the whole Georgia Tech community together by giving back is another great way to increase relations in our community and provide philanthropic support to RMHC. 

Family Stays 5k is our annual 5k across Georgia Tech’s campus. This event has continually been a huge success for RMHC and Alpha Delta Pi. Bringing over 460 people together on campus, we raised a total of $17,845 Spring of 2025!

Pie a Pi is a joint philanthropy effort with Georgia Tech Beta Theta Pi. In February of 2025, we had over 20 members offer to be pied in exchange for donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. 

Collecting Pop Tabs for RMH is another way that not only ourselves get involved in RMH but also encourage our family and friends to collect pop tabs to donate toward RMHC. Recycling services pay for these tabs in bulk, and the money is used to offset operating costs of the Houses in order to keep them free or very minimally priced.

In the fall, our main philanthropic event is the Gala for Giving. Our annual silent auction at which families and sisters come together to bid on different donated items has become a tradition for Zeta Omicron. All of the proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House and this past year has been our most successful yet, as we raised $31,281, supporting them as their top chapter donor!

Overall, Alpha Delta Pi here at Georgia Tech has been extremely successful in our goals of raising money for Ronald McDonald House Charities. In 2025, we raised over $50,000 between our Gala for Giving and 5k Race. We also successfully pledged $50,000 to sponsor a room in the new RMHC house!

Other Community Organizations:

All of the members of our chapter are encouraged to contribute and be involved in other Greek and community organizations both on and off campus. In 2025, our chapter collectively spent 2,700 hours of service at other community organizations!
